About Iowa Phone Directory

Phone numbers for Iowa sit in a lot of different places. The state keeps one employee directory. Each of the 99 counties runs its own website. School districts, universities, hospitals, and utilities all publish their own lists, and the area-code records live with NANPA and the FCC. Finding one number often means opening five tabs. We built this site so you can land on the right Iowa directory, area-code reference, or hotline the first time.

Why We Built This Site

Iowa spreads its phone information across a lot of separate offices. The State of Iowa directory covers state employees and state departments. The Department of Education posts its own staff list plus downloadable district and school building files. The University of Iowa and Iowa State each run a campus phonebook. Utilities keep outage lines apart from billing lines. Public-safety numbers split between 911, 988, 211, the State Patrol, and whichever city police department or county sheriff covers the address. Counties add another 99 sets of numbers on top of that, and the area codes behind all of it are tracked by NANPA and the FCC. We gather the lookup tools, the fallback phone lines, and the numbering reference for each of those layers in one place.
